Forecast

WetterWelt provides weather forecasts world wide, for example for single spots, areas or along routes of sea passages.

All important weather forecast parameters such as wind direction, wind force, sea states (wave height, wave direction, wave period), air temperature and water temperature or air pressure are available.

  • Forecasts can be ordered individually. These forecasts are created by meteorologists.
  • Forecasts can also obtained (on your own) via METEO PILOT in the format GRIB data.

The Resolution of our forecast data is in general 0.25 degrees over 5 days, 0.4 degrees over 7 days and 1.0 degrees over max. 10 days, latest useful for long-distance voyages. The output data is covers three-hour or six-hour intervals. The data basis is updated twice a day.

Analysis and Reanalysis

Archived analysis data or reanalysis data in the format GRIB data or time series in spreadsheet format are also available.

Database of reanalyzed data (era interim with resolution 0.25 degree) includes a time period over the last 30 years. Archived weather model data (ECMWF, GFS or ICON based) are available for last 5 years.

Also for these data all important weather parameters such as wind direction, wind force, sea states (wave height, wave direction, wave period), air temperature and water temperature or air pressure are available.

Wind and Wave Climatologies

Based on archived analysis data or reanalysis data, various evaluations can be made. Anaysises of timeseries are available for single spots as well as for large areas.

For example, visualization by using scatter diagrams for different parameter are possible:

  • distribution of wave height levels for different sea areas
  • distribution of wind direction and wind force
  • distribution of wind force and wave height levels

All parameters can be evaluated in different combinations and for varying time periods. They can be broken down for any given monthly or seasonal time interval. In this way it becomes possible to plan routine or long-distance routes or to exclude sea areas that exceed the ship’s specific limits. This prevents risk of damage.

Tailored Statistical Analysis

Wetterwelt provides a magnitude of different tailored statistical analyses. Our data basis covers all areas world wide.

These data bases consist of reanalyzed data (era interim with resolution 0.25 degree), archived weather model data (ECMWF based) and measurements from various official WMO weather stations.

All important weather parameters such as wind direction, wind force, sea states (wave height, wave direction, wave period), air temperature and water temperature or air pressure are available. All parameters can be evaluated in different combinations and for varying time periods.

Reanalyzed data is available for a time period over the last 30 years, measured data can be provided for the last 15 years.

Percentile calculation is also possible, for example, in order to determine the distribution of probabilities of events and to determine the range with the highest occurrence probability of events.
